Eagles named NACC North Division Co-Champions in defeat of Warriors

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Edgewood College Women's Basketball team were named Co-Champions of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference North Division after defeating Wisconsin Lutheran College 75-49 on Saturday. The Eagles last held a conference championship during the 2004-05 season, in which they were named Lake Michigan Conference Champions. Four Eagles finished in double-digits in the victory, with Paige Banks leading the way collecting 14 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (10-4, 9-1 NACC) found their stride with 4:02 left in the first period, going on a 14-5 run to end the period with a seven-point advantage (18-11). Despite strong shooting from the Eagles in the second period, Wisconsin Lutheran College (9-1, 9-1 NACC) kept things close in the second period. Ultimately, the Eagles knocked down three from 3-point range, with two coming from Jennifer Freeman. The Eagles went into the locker room with a 13-point lead (37-24).

- Coming out of the locker room, the Eagles offense went on a 15-4 run and took a 25-point lead with 1:11 left in the third period. The Eagles offense shot a game-best 60 percent (6-for-10) from the floor to give themselves a comfortable lead going into the final 10 minutes.

- On the evening, four Eagles scored in double-figures. Banks led the effort with 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting. Alyssa Lemirande, Diamond Pikulyk, and Jennifer Freeman added 13, 10, and 10 points respectively.

- Freeman stood out for the Eagles in the first 20 minutes of action, connecting on 4-of-6 from the floor and 2-of-3 from beyond the arc for 10 points. The senior also added a career-high seven rebounds in the win.

- Bria Lemirande continued to dominate the boards for the Eagles on Saturday, pulling down 10 rebounds.

- For just the third time this season the Eagles finished with a shooting percentage above 50 percent. The Eagles knocked down 30-of-54 (55.6 percent) for their best shooting performance of the season.

THE OPPOSITION
- Kaitlyn Shadoski led the Warriors with 12 points. Sam Leisemann added 11 points and Kalies Birkholz collected 10 points for Wisconsin Lutheran. Amanda Brug and Leisemann pulled down six rebounds each.

UP NEXT
- The Eagles will host Concordia University Wisconsin in a NACC North Division Semifinal on Thursday, March 4. Action will begin at 7:00 p.m. from the Todd Wehr Edgedome.
