Eagles headed to NACC North Final after win over Falcons

MADISON, Wis. - The Edgewood College Women's Basketball team is headed to the NACC North Final game after defeating Concordia University Wisconsin 61-51 on Thursday. It was a real defensive battle on both sides of the ball, with the Eagles shooting making the difference after halftime. Emma Klein and Jennifer Freeman finished in double-figures for the Eagles, with Klein scoring 14 of her 18 points in the final two periods.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- With 2:54 left in the third period, Edgewood College (11-4) took the lead from Concordia University Wisconsin (9-6) and never looked back. Freeman knocked down a three-pointer to give the Eagles the lead at 38-37.

- Edgewood College took a five-point lead going into the final 10 minutes of action, capitalizing on a 9-2 run through the final three minutes in the third period.

- Sharp shooting from Freeman, Klein, and Bria Lemirande led the Eagles to victory, as the trio combined for 16 of the Eagles 17 points in the final period. Klein and Bria Lemirande connected on back-to-back three-pointers in the final two minutes, to solidify the Eagles victory.

- The Eagles and Falcons displayed tough defense from the get-go, as the Eagles only led the Falcons by four (7-3) five minutes into the first period. Ultimately, Concordia Wisconsin took a four-point lead at halftime.

- The Eagles defense held the Falcons to just 27.3 percent (18-for-66) shooting from the floor. In addition, in the final two periods the Eagles forced the Falcons to make tough shots, keeping them scoreless from three-point range.

- Edgewood College saw their best shooting come alive in the fourth period, connecting on 6-of-12 from the floor.

- On the night Klein scored a season-best 18 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the floor. Freeman also collected a season-high 12 points connecting on 4-of-6 from the floor. The senior added four rebounds for the Eagles. Bria Lemirande led the Eagles rebounding with 10. The junior also added seven points and six assists on the night.

THE OPPOSITION
- Clara Chambers led the Falcons with 18 points. Emily Hafemann and Camryn Szolyga both scored in double-figures, with 13 and 10 respectively. Szolyga pulled down nine rebounds, while Deidre Lassiter, Reagan Obry, and Chambers each recorded seven.

UP NEXT
- The Eagles will head to Milwaukee, Wis. to take on Wisconsin Lutheran in the NACC North Final. Action is set for 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
