MILWAUKEE – For the second-straight night, the Edgewood College Men's Basketball team was unable to come away with a road NACC victory at MSOE. The Eagles and Raiders once again played a close contest with MSOE picking up the weekend sweep with a 64-58 victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The game was tight throughout as the two teams were deadlocked at 31 at halftime and neither team would gain much of an advantage in the second half as well. Up until the final free throws made by MSOE, neither team led by more than four points for most of the second half.
- The Eagles (6-5, 3-3 NACC) were tied at 56 with two minutes left when the Raiders (4-4, 2-3 NACC) took the lead for good with an old fashioned three-point play with 1:56 remaining. The two teams exchanged a pair of free throws to keep the MSOE lead at three, but that would be all the scoring for Edgewood College the rest of the way as the Raiders closed it out at the free throw line. Eight of the final 10 points for MSOE were scored at the foul line.
-
Jake Negus again paced the Eagles offense with 12 points on Saturday, while
Jake Graf added 10.
Will Schwartz scored nine points off the bench for Edgewood College.
-
Avery Lyons led the Eagles with six rebounds but the difference on the boards proved to be a deciding factor on Saturday. MSOE outrebounded Edgewood College by a 42-29 margin, including a 14-3 edge in offensive rebounding.
THE OPPOSITION
- Josh Herzog posted a double-double to lead MSOE, leading all players in scoring (21 points) and rebounding (11). Michael Pitroff added 20 points for the Raiders.
UP NEXT
- The Eagles will remain on the road next weekend with two NACC games at Lakeland. The first of those is set for Friday, February 19 at 7 p.m.
