Eagles End Loaded Non-League Slate with Loss Against No. 5 Warhawks

WHITEWATER, Wis. – The Edgewood College Women's Basketball team played the final game of its difficult non-conference schedule on Thursday, falling to No. 5 UW-Whitewater at the Warhawks home Holiday Tournament, 79-51. The Eagles will now turn their focus to 2021 where they will play 14-straight NACC games.

WARHAWKS 79, EAGLES 51
- Edgewood College (1-10) struggled to slow down the Warhawks in the opening half, trailing 49-26 at the break. Vivian Guerrero, Diamond Pikulyk, and Mady Pahl all scored six points in the first half with Pahl adding five first-half rebounds.

- A 17-0 Warhawks run midway through played a big factor in the first-half deficit. Edgewood College trailed 28-21 with 6:17 left but 17-straight points from the Warhawks made the score 45-21 with 2:33 remaining.

- The Eagles played better in the second half, which included outscoring the Warhawks (11-0) in the final period. In the third quarter, Edgewood College held the Warhawks to 21.7 percent (5-for-23) and 14 points, but the Eagles managed just eight points of their own, never able to cut into the deficit.

- Pikulyk posted her second-straight game scoring in double figures with 10 points and Pahl led the team with 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting. Guerrero finished the night with eight points and a team-high seven rebounds. The Eagles went 2-of-9 from 3-point range with both makes coming from Kenzie Senffner.

- UW-Whitewater was led by Aleah Grundahl who scored 19 points in just over 24 minutes, while adding six steals. Turnovers proved to be a big difference in Thursday's contest as the Eagles had 36 miscues compared to just 15 for the Warhawks. UW-Whitewater turned those Eagle mistakes into 33 points, while the Eagles scored just eight points off the Warhawks turnovers.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Thursday's game marks the end of an incredibly difficult non-conference slate for the Eagles. Edgewood College played seven non-conference games this season and four of those teams are currently ranked in the top 25, three inside the top 10.

UP NEXT
- The Eagles will turn their attention to 2022 and the remaining portion of their conference schedule. Edgewood College, who is 1-3 thus far in league play, will play 14-straight NACC games to end the year. Four of the next five will be at home, including a Tuesday night contest against a new NACC member, St. Norbert College, at 7 p.m.
