WHITEWATER, Wis. – The Edgewood College Women's Basketball team dropped a 67-39 contest against UW-Platteville on Wednesday evening at the UW-Whitewater Holiday Tournament.
PIONEERS 67, EAGLES 39
- Edgewood College (1-9) and UW-Platteville (9-3) played a fast-paced opening quarter, which saw the Eagles down 19-18 after 10 minutes of play.
Diamond Pikulyk went to work inside for the Eagles in the opening quarter with six points on 3-of-4 shooting. The Eagles scored 14 of their first 18 points in the paint, with
Eden Bonser adding a 3-pointer in the first 10 minutes.
- The second quarter saw both teams struggled to put the ball in the hoop as they combined for just 10 points. UW-Platteville scored seven of those, taking a 26-21 lead into the break. In the second half it was all Pioneers as they outscored Edgewood College 41-18 over the final 20 minutes, resulting in the 67-39 final.
- Pikulyk led the Eagles with 13 points on 5-of-11 shooting.
Vivian Guerrero added five points and a team-high seven rebounds, while
Mady Pahl chipped in with six points.
- After making 8-of-17 from the floor in the first quarter, Edgewood College was locked down the rest of the way, finishing the game shooting 27.8 percent (15-for-54) from the floor. The Eagles struggled from 3-point range, making just 1-of-12.
- UW-Platteville was balanced in the win, led by a 13-point effort by Allison Heckert. Brynlee Nelson and Taylor Gilbert each added 10 points, while Maiah Domask led all players with 10 rebounds, adding eight points. UW-Platteville won the rebounding battle, 42-30. The turnover battle was closer, 16-15 in favor of UW-Platteville, but the Pioneers did score 23 points of Eagles turnovers compared to just six Eagles points of Pioneer miscues.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Wednesday's contest was another difficult non-conference game for the Eagles, who have faced some of the top teams in the region this season. UW-Platteville was the fourth WIAC opponent the Eagles have played thus far, which includes games against nationally ranked UW-Eau Claire and UW-Oshkosh.

- The Eagles will take on another tough WIAC opponent tomorrow in their final game at the UW-Whitewater Holiday Tournament. Edgewood College is slated to play tournament host and No. 5 UW-Whitewater at 1 p.m.
