Eagles lock down Inferno in NACC win

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Edgewood College Women's Basketball team snapped an eight-game skid with a 59-34 conference win over Alverno College. The Eagles earned their first win of the season behind double-digit scoring from Diamond Pikulyk and Mady Pahl.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Alverno College (1-7, 0-4 NACC) came out strong on Saturday, shooting 50 percent (6-for-12) for a 12-8 advantage after the first period. It didn't take long for the Eagles to respond, as six straight points from Mady Pahl to begin the second period gave Edgewood College (1-8, 1-3 NACC) the lead. The Eagles outscored the Inferno 17-3 in the second period, taking a 10-point lead into halftime.

- The Eagles extended their lead to 17 in the third period, thanks to a 13-6 advantage. Kenzie Senffner buried a 3-pointer with just over a minute left in the period to give Edgewood College a 36-19 advantage. Senffner would add two points from the charity stripe to end the third period at 38-21.

- Edgewood College saw their largest lead of 25 come twice in the fourth period behind a game high 57.14 percent shooting (8-for-14) from the floor.

- Diamond Pikulyk and Mady Pahl led the Eagles attack, recording 11 points and 10 points, respectively. Both Pikulyk and Pahl were effective in their shooting, with Pahl connecting on 4-of-6 shots taken and Pikulyk 4-for-9 from the floor. Vivian Guerrero added nine points on 4-of-6 shooting.

- Edgewood College did a good job sharing the basketball, assisting on 15-of-21 field goals. Abby Shane dished out four assists while Eden Bonser recorded three assists. Guerrero pulled down six rebounds to lead the Eagles.

BEHIND THE BOX SCORE
- With the victory Edgewood College takes their seventh straight win over Alverno. The Eagles lead the all-time series 23-10.

- Senffner recorded her career-high points, scoring eight points in the victory.

THE OPPOSITION
- Alverno was paced by Angie Reutgen who finished with 11 points and three steals. Grace Lupumba added nine points and 12 rebounds for the Inferno.

UP NEXT
- Edgewood College will wait two weeks before heading to the UW-Whitewater Tournament on Wednesday, December 29. The Eagles will face UW-Platteville at 6:00 p.m. from Whitewater, Wis.
