MADISON, Wis. - The Edgewood College Men's Basketball team fell to No. 17 UW-Oshkosh in their home opener, 72-49 on Wednesday night. The Eagles reduced the Titans lead to just 17 in the second half, but was unable to overcome a 15-0 run late in the first half. Jake Schroeckenthaler led the Edgewood College offense with 12 points, while Caden Nelson posted a career-high eight points overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (0-3) entered the second half down by 20 points (40-20). An early 15-9 run by the Eagles brought the score to 52-35, the closest the Eagles would get to UW-Oshkosh through the second half.
- UW-Oshkosh (6-1) dominated the first half, shooting 45.2 percent overall and connecting on 9-of-11 attempts from the charity stripe. The Titans went on a 15-0 run starting with 7:10 left in the first half and ending with just 1:17 remaining before the break.
- Schroeckenthaler was strong defensively for the Eagles, pulling down a team-high nine rebounds and collecting a career-high five blocks.
- Avery Lyons and Caden Nelson finished with eight points each, a career-best for Nelson. Adam Baierl dished out a team-best four assists.
- Dawson Hughes was efficient in his offensive attack, going 2-for-4 from the floor and collecting a career-best five points. Hughes shook things up with just 2:09 left in the second half, collecting all five of his points in less than a minute and recording a steal.
THE OPPOSITION
- Levi Borchert led the Titans with an 18-point, 16 rebound double-double on Wednesday night.
- Hunter Plamann led all players with 19 points on 6-of-15 shooting overall. Plamann added six assists, while Eric Peterson collected 10 rebounds.
UP NEXT
- The Eagles will head to Coe College on Saturday, November 27 for their final tune-up before conference action. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. from Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
