VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood College Men's Soccer team fell to Benedictine University 7-0 on Saturday afternoon. In the NACC battle Edgewood College struggled to stop the dynamic Benedictine offense.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Benedictine University (8-2-2, 5-1-1 NACC) wasted little time building a lead, scoring in the 16th minute of the match. Hayden Van Son scored first for Benedictine, assisted by Fernando Alvarez. Benedictine would score once more before the end of the first half, as Mike Bassier converted passes from Van Son and David Szaflarski to take a 2-0 lead in the 30th minute.
- Edgewood College (0-10, 0-7 NACC) kept Benedictine off the scoreboard for the rest of the half, but struggled to generate much offensive power on Saturday. Edgewood College finished with just 10 shots, two of those on goal.
- Benedictine would take on five second-half goals, one of those in the final five minutes of the match. Noah Kappel had the final two second-half scores, solidifying the 7-0 final.
- Jack Gentner finished the night with a career-high 14 saves. Benedictine outshot Edgewood College, 49-10.
