MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College Women's Volleyball team nearly came all the way back from being down 2-0 on Friday night against Illinois Tech, but the visiting Scarlet Hawks escaped with the fifth-set for a 3-2 NACC final.
SCARLET HAWKS 3, EAGLES 2 (25-22, 26-24, 12-25, 16-25, 16-14)
- After falling behind 2-0, Edgewood College (13-6, 4-2 NACC) picked up its play with a dominant 25-12 win in the third set. They followed that with a 25-16 win in the fourth to set up the deciding fifth set.
- Edgewood College came within one point of winning as they led 14-13, but Illinois Tech (12-7, 3-2 NACC) closed with a 3-0 run to halt the Eagles comeback bid.
- The second set was another one that got away from the Eagles on Friday night. They led 23-22 before Illinois Tech closed with a 4-1 run to go up 2-0 for the night.
- The Eagles hit .209 for the night with
Mackenzie Doherty leading with way with 21 kills and a .415 effort.
Amanda Carlson (.184) added a career-best 16 kills and posted a double-double with another career-high 18 digs.

Taylor Salmon added a double-double of her own with 30 assists and 10 digs. Lea Dig added 29 digs for the Eagles and
Abigail Hoffmann delivered 22 assists. Both Bunch and Hoffmann recorded three aces as well.
THE OPPOSITION
- The Scarlet Hawks were led by a 14-kill, 16-dig performance by Briar Moore. Allison Wilkins tallied 24 assists in the winning effort.
UP NEXT
- The Eagles will have a quick turnaround with a trip to Milwaukee to face Wisconsin Lutheran College tomorrow. The league match is set for a noon start.
