Price notches hat trick in victory over Sabercats

VERONA, Wis. – On Friday evening the Eagles offense exploded for 10 goals and routed Maranatha Baptist University 10-0. Six different Eagles found the back of the net in the non-conference match, as Ashley Price notched her first career hat trick.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- It was the highest scoring game of the season as Edgewood College (3-8-1) earned their third win of the season in dominant fashion. The Eagles dominated the first half of competition, as the offense scored six and the defense shut down the Sabercats attack.

- Price was responsible for two of the Eagles' first six goals. The freshman struck first in the fourth minute, assisted by Sydney Feldner. The Madison native added another goal in the 13th minute, this time assisted by Marley Satran.

- Grace Wildeboer would score twice before the first 45 minutes elapsed, her first goal coming in the 29th minute, assisted by Reese Meszaros. Wildeboer would add another goal in the 36th minute to give the Eagles a 5-0 lead. Sierra Connell added the Eagles fourth goal in the 31st minute, assisted by Wildeboer.

- Kristen Palmer led the Eagles into the break with a commanding 6-0 lead with a goal in the 41st minute.

- A 6-0 lead wasn't enough for Edgewood College, as Price made it three, solidifying the hat trick in the 51st minute, this time assisted by Feldner and Mandy Fitzgerald.

- Hallie Wilkins got involved in the shutout with a goal in the 86th minute off a pass from Carolyn Evers. Senior Evers added a goal of her own in the 87th minute, while Price notched the 10th goal in the 88th minute.

- Edgewood College outshot Maranatha Baptist University (1-7-1) 42-0, led by Price and Leah Doucette with six shots.

- It was truly a team win, as seven different Eagles collected assists on the night, led by Wildeboer and Feldner with two each.

BEHIND THE BOX SCORE
- Price notched her collegiate best four goals on the evening. The last Eagle to score a four-goal hat trick was Emily Skaer on October 21, 2015.

- The Eagles victory goes down as the largest win since a 10-0 win over Alverno College on September 30, 2015.

- There were a number of collegiate bests, as Wildeboer scored a best two goals and added a best two assists. Sierra Connell and Hallie Wilkins both scored their first collegiate goals in the victory.

UP NEXT
- The Eagles will host Benedictine university in a NACC match Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Edgewood College Field at Reddan Park. The contest will be the first part of a women's/men's doubleheader. The men's and women's soccer teams will host Edgewood College Soccer Tackles Cancer.
