Eagles remain undefeated in NACC with sweep of Sabres

MADISON, Wis. - The Edgewood College Women's Basketball team remain undefeated in conference play on Saturday following a convincing 70-47 win over Marian University. The Eagles earned the sweep of the Sabres behind double-figure scoring from Abby Shane, Emma Klein, and Bria Lemirande. The Eagles defense was strong on Saturday, holding the Sabres to just 27.5 percent shooting from the floor and 17.2 percent shooting from beyond the arc. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles got off to a quick start in the first two periods of action thanks to the convincing shooting from Shane and Bria Lemirande. Both went into the locker-room at halftime with nine points, with Shane knocking down two from beyond the arc.

- Edgewood College (5-2, 4-0 NACC) saw their best shooting of the night in the final two periods of action. The Eagles finished the third period connecting on 9-of-15 from the floor (60 percent) and perfect shooting from beyond the arc. In the third period Klein and Shane combined for 3-for-3 shooting from beyond the arc to help push the Eagles to an 18-point lead (55-37) going into the final 10 minutes of action.

- Defensively the Eagles held Marian University (2-2, 2-2 NACC) in check from beyond the arc. The Sabres only connected on 5-of-29 from long (17.2 percent).

- Bria Lemirande collected her fourth double-double of the season with ease. The junior scored 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the floor and dominated the boards on Saturday, pulling down four offensive and 11 defensive rebounds for a total of 15.

- Klein added stellar shooting for the Eagles, knocking down 4-of-6 from the floor and 3-of-4 from beyond the arc for a total of 14 points. Shane led the Eagles scoring with 15 points on 4-for-6 shooting from three-point range.

- Edgewood College dominated with their speed on Saturday, scoring 23 fast break points while Marian University scored none.

- Newcomer Abigail Walsh made her mark on Saturday, scoring a career-best in an Eagle uniform with 8 points and pulling down four rebounds through just nine minutes of action.


THE OPPOSITION
- Three Sabres scored in double-figures on Saturday with Paris Harris leading the way with 12 points. Serina Pehowski finished the game with a 13 rebound, 11-point double-double. Claire Levendoski added 11 points of her own, while Harris pulled down seven rebounds for Marian.

UP NEXT
- Edgewood College will head to Mequon, Wis. on Friday, February 5 to face off against Concordia University Wisconsin. The Eagles will tip-off at R. John Buuck Fieldhouse at 5:00 p.m.
