Eagles hold on at Dubuque in first win of season

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Edgewood College Women's Basketball team used strong second and third quarters to build a sizable lead, before holding on for a 74-69 win over the University of Dubuque Sunday afternoon. Alyssa Lemirande led the way with 21 points, while Paige Banks added a career-best 16 in the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles (1-2) led 16-14 after one quarter before outscoring Dubuque 23-12 in the second quarter to take a 39-26 lead into halftime. Edgewood College would continue to see that lead grow in the third quarter and at one point in the fourth led by a game-best 22 (67-45 with 6:35 remaining).

- Dubuque (0-1) would make things interesting in the final six minutes, getting as close as four points in the final seconds. The Spartans cut the Edgewood College lead to 68-61 with 2:34 remaining, but Banks buried a huge 3-point shot with 2:10 left to put the Eagles back up 10 points.

- The Eagles got the ball inside on Sunday, scoring 36 points in the paint. Edgewood College also made eight shots from 3-point range in the win, including a 3-for-4 performance from deep from Banks. Lemirande did most of her work inside, and shot 10-of-13 en route to her team-high 21 points, her second 20-point effort in just three games this season. Parker Fetherston added a 2-for-4 shooting performance from 3-point range en route to six points.
