DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Edgewood College Men's Basketball team couldn't slow down a potent offense in the University of Dubuque as the Eagles fell for the first time this season, 99-69, at Dubuque on Sunday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Playing for the first time this year, Dubuque (1-0) showed no rust on the offensive end. The Spartans shot 57.6 percent (38-for-66) from the floor and 56.3 percent (9-for-16) from 3-point range. Dubuque made its first five 3-point shots of the game, including three-straight from Keegan Zimmerman to build a 23-9 lead just eight minutes into play.
- Dubuque ended up taking a 52-33 lead into halftime, but Edgewood College (2-1) started the second half strong by cutting into the Spartans lead. The Eagles opened the half with a 17-9 run, trimming its deficit to 11 (61-50) with 13:55 remaining. Dubuque would answer with a 20-3 run of its own, putting the game out of reach midway through the second half.

Matthew Myers shot the ball well for the Eagles on Sunday, making 4-of-6 from long range. Myers led the team with 16 points.
Avery Lyons had a strong game for the Eagles as well, scoring 15 points to go along with a team-best seven rebounds. Lyons also had two steals on the defensive end, as did
Caden Nelson.

Jake Graf chipped in 11 points for Edgewood College, which shot 49 percent (25-for-51) from the floor. Dubuque would end the game with 15 more shot attempts thanks to a 19-9 margin in turnovers and a 39-26 advantage over the Eagles on the glass.
OPPOSITION
- Patrick Mayfield scored 22 points to lead Dubuque on Sunday. Peter Ragen added 15 points, while Zimmerman scored 11.
