Shane guides Eagles to NACC win at MSOE

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Junior Abby Shane posted 22 points, leading the Edgewood College Women's Basketball team to a 64-50 win over MSOE Saturday afternoon. The Eagles had three players finish in double figures in the NACC road win, as Lexi Walter and Alyssa Lemirande both added 10 points to help pace the Eagles attack.

 HOW IT HAPPENED
- After leading 15-7 through one quarter, Edgewood College (20-2, 15-2 NACC) battled back-and-forth with MSOE (6-15, 6-10 NACC) in the second period. The Eagles saw their lead drop to three on three separate occasions, but six points from Walter kept things balanced. The Eagles took a 27-24 lead into the half.

- The third period began with a 12-2 Eagles run, quickly pushing their lead to 14. The Raiders connected on three free throws towards the end of the period, as the Eagles took a 39-28 lead into the final period.

- Edgewood College saw their best offense win the final 10 minutes of play. The Eagles shot 46.67 percent (7-of-15) from the floor and connected of 9-of-10 from the charity stripe. The offensive boost helped the Eagles to finish with a 14-point scoring margin.

- The Eagles shot well from the free throw line, making 15-of-23. Shane and Alyssa Lemirande were perfect from the charity stripe, collecting six-points and four-points respectively from the line.

- Shane was on fire from beyond the arc, connecting on 4-of-7 from long. Bria and Alyssa Lemirande both spread the ball well, collecting four assists each. Bria Lemirande and Lexi Walter both collected 10 rebounds each.

- The Eagles defense held the Raiders to a shooting percentage of just 29.1 from the floor.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

- For the second time in program history, the Women's Basketball team has reached 20 wins in a season. The Eagles now own the second most wins in a season and are one win from tying the 2004-05 squad who owns 21 wins, the program record for wins in a season.

- The Eagles win solidifies the season sweep over MSOE. Edgewood College has now completed a season sweep over five NACC schools (Dominican University, Lakeland University, Concordia Chicago, Alverno College, MSOE)

THE OPPOSITION
- Amy Reiser and Mikayla Dogs both posted 16 points for MSOE. Reiser did most of her damage from the charity stripe (7-of-11), while Dogs connected on four-of-five from beyond the arc.

- Danielle Valley and Reiser led the Raiders in boards, with eight each. In addition, Reiser spread the ball well, collecting three assists.

UP NEXT
- The Eagles will return to action next Saturday, as they take on Rockford University. The NACC contest is set to begin at 4:15 p.m. and will be the second part of a men's/women's doubleheader in Rockford, Ill.
