EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The Edgewood College Men's Tennis team played its first dual meets of the season on Saturday, taking on Bethel University and UW-Eau Claire. The Eagles dropped both contests, falling 8-1 against Bethel before being swept by the host Blugolds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Against Bethel (2-1),
Conner Dugan picked up the lone Eagles (0-2) win of the day, securing a No. 6 singles victory. Dugan won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2.

Caden Nelson went into a tiebreaker in his first set of his No. 2 singles match, before falling 7-6 (7-5). Nelson was downed 6-4 in the second set.
- The Eagles dropped three doubles matches to open play, two of those coming by 8-5 scores. The 8-5 battles came at No. 1 doubles for
Marius Dornhagen Schradermeier and
Jackson Venske, and at No. 2 doubles for Nelson and
Tommy Ebben.
- UW-Eau Claire (4-0) impressed in a 9-0 victory over Edgewood College. Venske and Dugan both won four games in their first set at No. 3 and 6 singles, respectively.
UP NEXT
- The Eagles will play their 2020 home opener Thursday afternoon against Lawrence University. Action is set to begin at 12:30 p.m. at Hitters Sportsplex in Middleton, Wisconsin.
