Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Eagles hold on for thrilling NACC win over Warriors

MADISON, Wis - In the final game of the regular season, the Edgewood College Women's Basketball team put on a defensive clinic and defeated Wisconsin Lutheran College 45-43. After trailing the Warriors by 10 points at halftime, the Eagles pulled off the comeback in front of a crowd of 608 in the Todd Wehr Edgedome. Mia Edwards recorded her first career double-double, while Alyssa Lemirande scored in double-figures on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (23-2, 18-2 NACC) only owned the lead for three and a half minutes, but it was just enough time to take town Wisconsin Lutheran (18-7, 15-5 NACC). With just under two minutes remaining in the third period, the Eagles went on a 16-5 run that ended with their first lead of the night. With 3:38 remaining in the fourth period, Edgewood College took a one point lead over Wisconsin Lutheran as Delaney Wilhelm knocked down two from the charity stripe.

- The Eagles defense proved to be too much for the Warriors offense. Edgewood College held Wisconsin Lutheran to just two points through the final five minutes of action. With 25 seconds remaining in the fourth period, the Eagles led by two points. Jenna Mace of Wisconsin Lutheran took the three-point shot for the lead, but Alyssa Lemirande responded with a huge block to deny the Warriors.

- It was a slow start in the first period, as Wisconsin Lutheran finally scored two minutes into the period. The Eagles couldn't seem to get their shots to fall, as they only scored five points and trailed the Warriors 15-5 going into the second period.

- In the second period, the Eagles matched the Warriors scoring with 11 points, but still trailed going into the locker room. Alyssa Lemirande carried the Eagles offense, scoring six to hold Wisconsin Lutheran within reach.

- On the afternoon, the Eagles held Wisconsin Lutheran to a shooting percentage of 30.5, well below their season average. In addition, Edgewood College defended the three-pointer well, only allowing the Warriors to connect on 5-of-18 (27.8 percent).

- Once again, Alyssa Lemirande led the Eagles offense, scoring 16 points, collecting six from the charity stripe. Mia Edwards stepped up to the plate, scoring 13 points and pulling down a career-high 17 rebounds.

- Alyssa Lemirande added eight rebounds and seven assists in the victory. Emma Klein collected three blocks and five rebounds.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Eagles defeated the Warriors for the first time in 17 games.

- Edwards collected her first career double-double, pulling down 17 rebounds and collecting 13 points in just her second start as an Eagle.

THE OPPOSITION
