Falcons deal Eagles NACC Setback

MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College Men's Basketball team suffered its first NACC home loss of the season Tuesday. The Eagles welcomed Concordia University Wisconsin to the Todd Wehr Edgedome and it was the Falcons coming away with the league win, 86-76.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles (3-9, 2-5 NACC) and Falcons went back-and-forth for much of the opening half with CUW holding a 34-32 lead with 2:31 left before halftime. That's when the Falcons went on a strong run to close the half, a 9-2 stretch, highlighted by three 3-pointers from Camden Flowers, putting Edgewood College in a 43-34 halftime deficit.

- Led by Jacob Miller and Jake Graf, the Eagles shut down the Falcons leading scorer, Jordan Johnson, in the opening half. Johnson came in averaging 17.4 points, and was held to one point on 0-for-3 shooting in the first 20 minutes. Unfortunately for the Eagles, an unexpected source caught fire for Concordia Wisconsin. Flowers, who entered the game shooting 4-for-23 from 3-point range for the season, made 5-of-7 from distance in scoring 17 first-half points. Flowers was averaging 3.5 points per game before the first-half outburst.

- Ben Seefeld and Avery Lyons each had eight first-half points for Edgewood College, who shot 38.2 percent (13-for-34) as a team. Both teams were sloppy with the basketball in the opening half, Edgewood College committing eight turnovers and the Falcons committing nine.

- The Eagles hung around for the early part of the second half despite some foul trouble. Miller picked up two quick ones in the second half and was forced to the bench with 17:32 remaining in the game. The Eagles were whistled for five fouls in the first 3:30 of the second half with CUW making four free throws during that stretch.

- The Falcons (6-5, 5-2 NACC) first surge in the second half came at the 15:04 mark. They held a 51-46 lead at that point before scoring 12 of the next 14 points in going up 63-48. CUW would go up a game-best 19 points with 9:11 left in the game.

- Seefeld scored 16 points to pace Edgewood College, while also grabbing a team-best seven rebounds. Lyons added 14 points, six rebounds, and five assists and Jake Negus chipped in with 12 points. The game also saw the first collegiate basket for Trent Casper, who scored late in the second half.

- The Edgewood College bench gave a solid performance with 24 points on Tuesday compared to 17 for the Falcons.

THE OPPOSITION
- Flowers finished with 22 points for the Falcons, as did Brandon Keller. Jared Jurss dished out a game-best 11 assists.

UP NEXT
- The Eagles will continue their five-game home stretch by welcoming MSOE to the Todd Wehr Edgedome Saturday afternoon. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. and will be the first part of a men's/women's doubleheader.
