AURORA, Ill. – Behind Bria Lemirande's second double-double of the week and a career-high 22 points from Alyssa Lemirande, the Edgewood College Women's Basketball team routed Aurora University 76-70 on Thursday night. The Eagles improved to 13-1, 8-1 NACC on the season, as double-digit scoring performances from Diamond Pikulyk and Parker Fetherston complimented Bria and Alyssa Lemirande's career-high performances.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In a battle between the two best scoring teams in the NACC, the Eagles came out on top and held the Spartans to just 38.5 percent (25-65) shooting in the victory. The Edgewood College defense held Aurora University (9-4, 6-3 NACC) to just 29.41 percent (5-17) shooting in the second period. In addition, they only allowed the Spartans to connect on six occasions from beyond the arc (6-22)
- The first period was a back-and-forth affair, but the Eagles ended the period up by two points (19-17) after Riley Larson connected on two straight jumpers in the final minute of action.
- The Eagles were holding on to a 25-19 lead when Parker Fetherston seized control. The sophomore scored eight straight points off a layup and two straight three-pointers. Fetherston sparked a 12-4 run that helped the Eagles head into the break with a seven point lead (39-32).
- The Spartans came out of the locker room and matched the Eagles 20 points in the third period.
- With 5:36 left in the fourth period, Aurora University went on an 11-2 run to come within one point of Edgewood College. Despite the Spartans offensive surge, the Eagles held on with strong defense and fantastic free throw shooting from Bria Lemirande.
- On the night, Bria Lemirande finished 10-14 from the charity stripe and collected a career-best 13 rebounds for the Eagles. Alyssa Lemirande came away with a career-high of 22 points and shot 90 percent (9-of-10) from the charity stripe.
- Diamond Pikulyk came away with 14 points (4-of-5) through just 15 minutes and connected on six of seven free throws. Parker Fetherston finished with 10 points and added three steals.
- Emma Klein, Alyssa Lemirande, and Fetherston all spread the ball well, each collecting six assists in the victory.
THE OPPOSITION
- Julie Galauner paced the Spartans with 22 points, five rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Sydni Olson finished with an 11 point, 12 rebound double-double. Karissa King and Savannah Johnson both scored in double-figures, with 11 points each.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Eagles collected 28 points from the charity stripe, which goes down in the Edgewood College record books as tied for third most in a game.

- Edgewood College will close out a three game week with another NACC matchup on Saturday. Edgewood College will host Benedictine University for the second part of a men's/women's doubleheader. The women's game is set for a 4:15 p.m. tip.
