Strong offensive start lifts Edgewood College past Alverno

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Aided by four double-digit scorers and a double-double from Bria Lemirande, the Edgewood College Women's Basketball team sprinted past Alverno College, 80-57 to earn their second-straight and 12th win of the season on Tuesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Bria Lemirande led the four Eagles players in double figures with a 15 points. The sophomore added 10 rebounds to notch her first career double-double as an Eagle. Joining Bria Lemirande in double figures was Abby Shane (12), Diamond Pikulyk (12), and Parker Fetherston (10).

- Edgewood College (12-1, 7-1 NACC) came out of the gate fast and never looked back, scoring a whopping 23 points in the first period and holding Alverno College (2-12, 2-7 NACC) to just seven points. The Eagles went into the break off a 26 point second period that featured 11-of-19 shooting (57.89%).

- The Eagles biggest lead of the contest came just seconds into the third period, as a long ball from Shane solidified the 34 point margin.

- After the break the Inferno picked up their pace, barely outscoring the Eagles in both the third and fourth periods. Despite shooting 45.7 percent from the floor in the final two periods, the Eagles offensive effort was too much for Alverno College.

- The Eagles effort was quite balanced, as 35 points scored came off the bench. Emma Klein and Lexi Walter both finished with seven points, while Walter pulled down eight rebounds and Klein seven.

- Once again rebounds proved to be a big difference in the contest, as the Eagles pulled down 52 total boards and the Inferno finished with 32. In addition, 15 of the 52 rebounds came on the offensive side of the ball.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Parker Fetherston dished out a career-best four assists on the night, while Bria Lemirande tied her career-best scoring performance with 15 points.

- Coming into Tuesday, the Eagles owned the second best three point field goal defense in NCAA Division III women's basketball. This continued to be evident on the night, as the Eagles limited Alverno to just 3-of-9 from beyond the arc.

THE OPPOSITION
- Eniya Madden played a big role for the Inferno, scoring 22 points, collecting seven steals, dishing out four assists, and pulling down four rebounds.

- Alicia Hornbuckle scored in double-digits for Alverno, collecting 16 points and adding a team high nine rebounds on the night. Keeeshya Bellows wasn't far behind with five rebounds of her own.

UP NEXT
- The Eagles will head to Aurora, Ill. on Thursday to take on Aurora University. The conference contest is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
