MADISON, Wis. – Ashley Siegel scored in the 22nd minute for the Edgewood College Women's as the Eagles played to a 1-1 draw with Lake Forest College Sunday afternoon. The Siegel goal was an equalizer as the Foresters struck earlier in the first half in Sunday's tie.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Foresters struck in the 10th minute on an unassisted goal of the foot of Grace Monshausen. She hit her shot in the top left corner of the goal from just outside the 18-yard box for a 1-0 advantage for the visitors.
- Siegel, who subbed into the match just prior to scoring, provided an instant spark off the bench for the Eagles. She took advantage of a misplay by the Foresters goalkeeper and deflected one in during the 22nd minute for the game-tying goal.
-
Grace Wildeboer and the Eagles defense stayed strong the rest of the match, keeping the Foresters off the board. Wildeboer finished the match with nine saves, eight of those in the second half and overtime sessions.
- Both teams had decent chances in the second half and overtime periods but both goalkeepers played well down the stretch. The Eagles were outshot, 17-10, in the match and the Foresters had a 10-7 edge in shots on goal.
