RICHARDSON, Texas. – The Edgewood College Women's Soccer team battled UT Dallas into double overtime Friday night in the opener of the UT Dallas Comet Cup. The host Comets would capitalize early in the second overtime, scoring just 28 seconds into the period for a 1-0 final.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles (1-3-1) were outshot 32-4 in the match but went to overtime thanks to the great play of goalkeeper
Grace Wildeboer. Wildeboer stopped 18 shots, with the Eagles adding two team saves as well.
- The lone goal came 28 seconds into the second overtime session by the Comets Keely Fillman. Fillman and Sofia Munoz of the Comets led all players with seven shots each, Fillman putting five of hers on goal.
- The Eagles finished with four shots in the match, two from
Maddy Solder. Solder and
Madelyn Peach each put a shot on goal in the contest.
