Eagles fall short against Cardinals

MADISON, Wis. – After a scoreless first-half, two goals from Saint Mary's University in a matter of three minutes proved to be the difference Saturday night, as the Edgewood College Men's Soccer team dropped the non-conference match, 2-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Robbie Sobcazak converted a cross from Eli Szymanski and scored the first goal for Saint Mary's (2-1) off a header in the 58th minute.

- The second Cardinals goal of the night came just minutes later, as Josh Balsiger made a run down the left side of the field and found the top right corner of the net to make the score 2-0.

- Edgewood College (1-2-1) put up nine shots total on Saturday, two of those on goal. Eight of nine shots came in the second half, as Victor Lombardino, Aldon Lumani, and Jorge Castellanos each took two shots a piece.

- The Eagles defense only allowed Cardinals offense to own possession within scoring distance for 18 percent of the game. Overall, possession was split down the middle, as both teams maintained the ball for 50 percent of the contest.

- Saint Mary's finished the match with 14 shots, four on goal. Brendon Martin stopped two shots in the contest.

- The Eagles will head to UW-Platteville on Wednesday. The non-conference contest is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
