BELOIT, Wis. – Aggressive attack proved to be key, as goals from Shannon Kaufmann and Anja Von Klopp gave the Edgewood College Women's Soccer team their first victory of the season over Beloit College. The 2-1 victory came as a result of offensive consistency and defensive pressure.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Edgewood College (1-2) offense proved strong on Thursday afternoon, taking a total of 19 shots to Beloit's (0-3) 4 shots. The Eagles offense and defense worked well to keep the Buccaneers from taking only one shot on goal.
- The Eagles would get things going in the in the 56th minute, as Kaufmann's first goal of the season came just 11 minutes into the second half. The senior was able to convert a pass from Maddy Solder.
- The second goal of the contest came with just under five minutes remaining in the second half, as Von Klopp scored her first goal as an Eagle. Von Klopp was assisted by Aubrey Tarmann.
- The Buccaneer's offense quickly responded, as Syndey Hukin found the back of the net to make the score 2-1 in the 86th minute.
- Overall, Kaufmann led the offensive charge for the Eagles with three shots, while Olivia De Castro, Carolyn Evers, Tarmann, Von Klopp, and Lizzy Langer each took two shots a piece.
