Lombardino scores as Eagles tie Buccaneers

MADISON, Wis. – A Victor Lombardino goal in the 52nd minute helped the Edgewood College Men's Soccer team play to a 1-1 draw against Beloit College Wednesday night at Breese Stevens Field. The match was the home opener for the Eagles, whose record moved to 1-1-1 for the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless first half, the Eagles struck first with a Lombardino score in the 52nd minute. Senior Sean Surtees started the play by firing a shot on goal from about 18 yards out. After a Beloit save, William Lemkuil fired another shot off the crossbar, which bounced to Lombardino who headed it in for his first goal of the season.

- The 1-0 lead held until 63rd minute when Andrew Marchesi struck for Beloit. His shot from about 20 yards out got through the defense and slid through Brendon Martin to make the score 1-1.

- For the last couple minutes of regulation and the entire overtime periods the Eagles played a man down as a red card (second yellow) was issued in the 88th minute. The Eagles still played tough, which included a pair of shots in the first overtime session.

- Edgewood College finished with 20 shots in the match compared to 13 for Beloit. Martin made six saves for the Eagles, while Beloit played two different keepers, each making four saves.

- Aldon Lumani led all players with six shots, two of those on goal. Lombardino and Surtees each finished with two shots on goal as well.
