LA CROSSE, Wis.- On Monday afternoon the Eagles offense exploded for seven goals and routed Viterbo University 7-2. Four different Eagles found the back of the net in the non-conference match, as Sean Surtees notched his first career hat trick.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- It was the highest scoring game of the season as Edgewood College (5-4-1) extended their winning streak to three in dominant fashion. The Eagles dominated the second half of competition, as the offense scored five and the defense shut down the V-Hawks attack.
- Surtees was responsible for three of the Eagles' first four goals. The senior struck first in the 20th minute unassisted.
- Viterbo University (5-5) took the lead for just four seconds, as Andrew Weddle scored his seventh and eighth goals of the season in the 24th and 33rd minute.
- The Eagles barely allowed the V-Hawks to own the lead, as Surtees scored his second goal of the contest just four seconds after the V-Hawks second goal. Riley Moore dropped an assist to Surtees, evening the score at two apiece.
- While Surtees got the Eagles offense started, Victor Lombardino spurred the Eagles offense in the second half, scoring in the 50th minute, assisted by Zander Hartberg.
- A 3-2 lead was not enough for Edgewood College, as Surtees made it four, solidifying the hat trick in the 54th minute off a pass from Lombardino
- Brian Root got involved in the second half shutout with a pair of goals in the 66th and 69th minute. Root notched his sixth goal of the season with the help of Even Oppermann and William Lemkuil, while Jorge Castellanos provided the assist that put the Eagles up 6-2.
- In the 82nd minute, Riley Moore solidified the 7-2 victory, finding the back of the net for the first time this season.
- Edgewood College outshot Viterbo 29-8, led by none other than Surtees season-high six shots.
