Eagles edge Illinois Tech, run NACC winning streak to 18

MADISON, Wis. – It was close, but in the end it was another NACC win for Edgewood College Women's Tennis Saturday. The Eagles battled Illinois Tech, edging out a 5-4 win to run their NACC regular season winning streak to 18 matches. The Eagles are now 5-0 in NACC play this season.

- The Eagles started the morning with two doubles victories, building a 2-1 lead. Both the No. 2 duo of Alyssa Carew and Kai Heineman and the No. 3 duo of Alicia Picard and Kinsey Kessel posted 8-3 victories.

- The other doubles match went to a tiebreaker with Illinois Tech capturing an 8-7 (7-5) victory.

- In singles play, Edgewood College picked up three straight-set wins from the No. 4 through 6 positions to take the match, 5-4.



- Ally Verbauwhede posted a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles as her win clinched the victory for Edgewood College.

- Picard netted a 6-0, 6-2 No. 5 singles win, while Lydia Dean recorded a 6-1, 6-2 victory.

- The other three singles matches went in favor of Illinois Tech, two of those (No. 2, No. 3 singles) going to a third-set tiebreaker.

UP NEXT
- The Eagles will continue their three-match home stretch Tuesday when they welcome Marian University to Quann Park for a NACC contest, beginning at 4 p.m.
