MADISON, Wis. – Moving indoors didn't seem to bother the Edgewood College Women's Tennis team. Forced indoors due to inclement weather, the Eagles remained perfect in league play this season, sweeping Marian University, 9-0, at Powless Tennis Center. The Eagles NACC regular season winning streak is 19 after the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles started the day with three quick wins in doubles play. Of those, the No. 3 duo of
Alicia Picard and
Kinsey Kessel rolled to an 8-0 victory.
- Also picking up doubles wins for the Eagles was the No. 1 duo of
Sydney Verbauwhede and
Ally Verbauwhede, along with the No. 2 team of
Alyssa Carew and
Kai Heineman, both winning 8-2.
- The Eagles won all six singles matches in straight sets to complete the sweep.
Sydney Verbauwhede started it at No. 1 singles with a convincing 6-0, 6-1 win. Carew followed suit at No. 2 singles, winning 6-1, 6-2.
- Heineman posted a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 3 singles, while
Ally Verbauwhede rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 No. 4 singles victory. Picard had the reverse of
Ally Verbauwhede's score, winning 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 singles.
- Rounding out the singles lineup for the Eagles was
Lydia Dean who won 6-1, 6-2.
UP NEXT
- The win sets up a showdown between NACC unbeaten Saturday at Quann Park. Edgewood College will welcome Concordia University Wisconsin with the match set to start at 10 a.m.
