FOND DU LAC, Wis. – An early goal from Ashley Siegel wasn't enough in a 3-1 defeat at Marian University on Wednesday night. The Eagles offense was present, outshooting the Sabres 21-16, but 11 saves kept the Eagles from scoring more than once.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Marian University (3-4, 1-0 NACC) got things going early, scoring in the second minute. The Sabres first goal came off the foot of Shannon Coughlin assisted by Ashley Welk.
- Edgewood College (2-6-1, 0-1 NACC) responded quickly, as Siegel scored her second goal of the season off a pass from Aubrey Tarmann to tie things up at one a piece.
- The Sabres would score twice more in the first half, one goal coming from Kayla Bender in the 26th minute, and another from Ashely Welk in the 45th minute.
- Despite only scoring once, the Eagle offense was strong, outshooting the Sabres 21-16 with 12 shots on goal. Shannon Kaufmann and Siobhan Gallagher both added four shots a piece, while Aubrey Tarmann and Olivia De Castro were right behind with three shots each.
- Goalkeeper Grace Wildeboer made six saves for the Eagles, while Kylie Lange made the difference with 11 saves for the Sabres.
