Eagles strike five times in NACC-opening win over Marian

MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College Men's Soccer team began NACC play with its best offensive showing of the season, scoring five times in a 5-0 win over Marian University. The Eagles struck twice in the first half and poured in three more goals after the break for the conference-opening victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The momentum of the match changed in the 22nd minute as Marian was whistled for a red card, meaning the Eagles would play the remainder of the match with a man advantage. Edgewood College took advantage with two goals in the final 23 minutes of the opening half, the first from William Lemkuil, assisted by Eric Armenta in the 31st minute.

- Edwin Aguirre made it 2-0 in the 37th minute with his second goal of the season. Lorenzo Amador started the play with a great long pass up the left side to Riley Moore. One touch later, Moore had a cross sent perfectly to Aguirre, who finished with the score.

- Brian Root continued his strong play as of late with his fourth goal over the last three matches in the 60th minute. Root's score was assisted by Lemkuil, who finished the night with three points.

- Sean Surtees tacked on a goal in the 63rd minute, assisted by Aguirre, while Jorge Castellanos capped off the scoring for the Eagles, taking a long pass from Mason Jordan and burying his first goal of the year. The goal also represented the first career collegiate point for Jordan.

- Brendon Martin and the Eagles defense kept the Sabres off the board Wednesday night for the Eagle's first shutout of the season. Martin made two saves, both in the second half.
