Late goal not enough as Vikings edge Eagles

APPLETON, Wis. – Sophomore Brian Root scored in the 81st minute, but three early goals from Lawrence University was too much as the Edgewood College Men's Soccer team lost to the Vikings, 3-1, on Wednesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lawrence University (3-3) got things going early, scoring all three of their goals in four minutes. The Vikings first goal came in the 21st minute, as Julien Riviere converted a rebound off the hands of Eagle goalie Brian Root. Zach Currie would score twice more over the next four minutes, giving the Vikings a 3-0 lead that lasted for the majority of the contest.

- Edgewood College (2-4-1) finally found the back of the net in the 81st minute, as Root, assisted by Jorge Castellanos, scored his third goal in two days.

- Despite only scoring once, the Eagles offense was active, outshooting the Vikings 14-11. Zander Hartberg added four shots for the Eagles, while Root and Sean Surtees were right behind with two shots each.

- Goalkeeper Brendon Martin made five saves for the Eagles, while Hunter Landon managed four saves for the Vikings.
