MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Starting off strong in conference play is always important, and the Edgewood College Women's Tennis team did just that on Saturday. The Eagles improved to 3-0 in conference play, defeating Alverno College and Wisconsin Lutheran 9-0.

- Against the Inferno, the Eagles only gave up a total of 2 points in singles play. Edgewood College (6-2, 3-0 NACC) got things going in doubles play where Alyssa Carew and Kai Heineman at No. 1 doubles, Sydney Verbauwhede and Alicia Picard at No. 2, and Lydia Dean and Kinsey Kessel at No. 3 gave up no points for the Eagles.
- In singles play the Eagles continued to roll past the Inferno, as the closest match of the contest came at No. 1 singles where Michelle Alexander was able to score two points on Sydney Verbauwhede early in the match. S. Verbauwhede, Carew (No. 2), Heineman (No. 3), Picard (No. 4), Dean (No. 5), and Kessel (No. 6) all picked up dominant wins for the Eagles.

- The Eagles continued their hot streak into the afternoon, once again proving they are a force to be reckoned with. Edgewood College won all nine matches, again beginning with a sweep in doubles play. The duo of Ally and Sydney Verbauwhede won 8-0 at No. 1 doubles, while Carew and Heineman won 8-3 at No. 2 doubles, and Picard and Kessel won 8-0 at No. 3 doubles.
- In singles action Wisconsin Lutheran (1-4, 0-3 NACC) made things interesting, but the Eagles maintained composure and swept all six singles matches.
- Against the Warriors Sydney Verbauwhede (No. 1), Heineman (No. 3), Ally Verbauwhede (No. 4), and Picard (No. 5) all won in straight sets, and combined to only give up five points.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
- For the third season in a row the Eagles have swept both Alverno and Wisconsin Lutheran.
UP NEXT
- The Eagles will head to Plymouth, Wis. on Sunday, looking to stay perfect in the NACC. Action begins at 2:00 p.m. against Lakeland University.
