Game Recap: Softball |

Warriors overpower Eagles in sweep

VERONA, Wis. - The Edgewood College softball team battled things out with the Wisconsin Lutheran Warriors over the course of two days, due rain that forced a suspended game on Sunday. In the end, the Warriors collected the sweep with 12-0 and 8-0 wins over the Eagles. The Warriors were carried by the offensive and defensive efforts of pitcher Abby Mahsem, while Grace Delleman collected two hits and Jenna Dunbar flashed the leather for the Eagles at third base.

WISCONSIN LUTHERAN COLLEGE 8, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 0 (GAME TWO)
- Edgewood College (6-14, 0-8 NACC) struggled to solve Abby Mahsem as the Wisconsin Lutheran (15-7, 6-4 NACC) starter went the distance in both contests. Mahsem recorded five strikeouts in game two, and only gave up one walk.

- The Warriors scored in four of seven frames, opening the game with an RBI single from Mahsem. Wisconsin Lutheran tacked on one more in both the fourth and fifth inning.

- Senior Grace Delleman collected two hits for the Eagles, a hard-hit ball past the shortstop in the second inning and a single to third base in the sixth inning.

WISCONSIN LUTHERAN COLLEGE 12, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 0 (GAME ONE)
- Due to weather, the first contest of the double header was played in both rain and 70-degree sunshine. Wisconsin Lutheran struck first, taking advantage of the impact the rain played on the Eagles defense. The Warriors scored two in the first inning of the contest off an Eagle miscue and base on balls.

- The Warriors continued to score, putting up runs in four of five frames. Wisconsin Lutheran was led by the pitcher Mahsem who collected two hits and added three RBI in the contest.

- Warriors pitcher Mahsem was perfect from the rubber. Not allowing an Eagle to reach base and striking out five.
