Eagles down Warriors, second game postponed to Monday

MILWAUKEE – The Edgewood College Baseball team received a complete game effort from Matthew Turner and an 18-hit effort from the offense in a 9-4 win over Wisconsin Lutheran College Sunday. The first game was completed before the inclement weather hit the Milwaukee area, but the second contest was washed out and will be played Monday at 3:30 p.m.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles built a 7-0 lead with a run in the second, four in the third, and two more in the fourth. Adam Cairo, who finished the contest 4-for-5 with four RBI, recorded an RBI single in the second and drove in two more runs in the third inning. Cairo also stole two bases for the Eagles.

- Balance was a key for Edgewood College as all nine players in the lineup recorded at least one hit with six of those picking up multiple hits. Ryan Fields had three hits in addition to Cairo's four, while Alex Prindle, Ryan Cassady, Casey Willis, and Max Orput all delivered two hits. The bottom four spots in the Edgewood College lineup was 10-for-19 with six runs scored and seven RBI.

- Turner was impressive in his complete-game effort as the freshman right-hander allowed just two earned runs. He scattered eight hits and walked four with five punchouts.

- Cassady had the lone extra-base hit in the contest, a double, while Willis scored a game-best three runs and drove in two.

- Cairo's third run-scoring hit came in the eighth inning, putting Edgewood College up 9-2 at the time. The Warriors would score twice in the bottom of the ninth but Turner would get the 27th out, allowing Edgewood College its second-straight win.

UP NEXT
- The Eagles and Warriors will play in the rescheduled game two tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. at Neumann Family Field in Milwaukee.
