VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood College Baseball team found its offense midway through game two of a doubleheader against Lakeland University, giving the Eagles enough to secure a split with the Muskies. The Eagles picked up a 10-8 game two victory after falling, 10-1, in the opener.
EAGLES 10, MUSKIES 8
- The Eagles trailed 6-2 in the bottom of the fourth when
Jacob Popp sparked a rally with a two-run home run over the right-center field wall. Popp finished the game 2-for-3 with a home run, double, and two RBI.
- The Eagles tied the game in the fifth, scoring two more runs to make the score 6-6. Edgewood College would then go up 7-6 in the sixth when
Ryan Gale hit a sacrifice fly, scoring
Bryan Niznik who was in as a pinch runner for Popp.
- Edgewood College kept the bats rolling after the seventh-inning stretch with three more runs, two of those coming on a two-out, two-RBI single from Gale.
Max Orput added an RBI single in the frame.

Will Mossa picked up the win for the Eagles, working 6.1 innings in relief.
Ryan Fields picked up the save with a scoreless ninth in which he struck out the side.
- Gale paced the offense with three RBI, while five Eagles, including Popp collected two hits. Among those was
Joseph Kalafut who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Bryan Sternig,
Kyle Semrad, and Orput all added two hits with Semrad doubling and Sterning swiping four bases.
MUSKIES 10, EAGLES 1
- The story of the opener was the right arm of Lakeland freshman Nathan Hemmerling. He threw eight innings and struck out 17 batters, while allowing just one run.
- The only Eagle offense of game one was provided by freshman
Alex Prindle, who launched a solo home run in the fourth inning. Sternig added another stolen base giving him five for the doubleheader.
- Kalafut took the loss on the mound as the rookie southpaw worked 4.1 innings.
Connor Schatzberg,
Richie Coughlin, and
Trey Hunt all saw action on the mound in game one for Edgewood College.
