Eagles rally in game two, secure split with Muskies

VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood College Baseball team found its offense midway through game two of a doubleheader against Lakeland University, giving the Eagles enough to secure a split with the Muskies. The Eagles picked up a 10-8 game two victory after falling, 10-1, in the opener.

EAGLES 10, MUSKIES 8
- The Eagles trailed 6-2 in the bottom of the fourth when Jacob Popp sparked a rally with a two-run home run over the right-center field wall. Popp finished the game 2-for-3 with a home run, double, and two RBI.

- The Eagles tied the game in the fifth, scoring two more runs to make the score 6-6. Edgewood College would then go up 7-6 in the sixth when Ryan Gale hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Bryan Niznik who was in as a pinch runner for Popp.

- Edgewood College kept the bats rolling after the seventh-inning stretch with three more runs, two of those coming on a two-out, two-RBI single from Gale. Max Orput added an RBI single in the frame.

- Will Mossa picked up the win for the Eagles, working 6.1 innings in relief. Ryan Fields picked up the save with a scoreless ninth in which he struck out the side.

- Gale paced the offense with three RBI, while five Eagles, including Popp collected two hits. Among those was Joseph Kalafut who went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Bryan Sternig, Kyle Semrad, and Orput all added two hits with Semrad doubling and Sterning swiping four bases.

- The only Eagle offense of game one was provided by freshman Alex Prindle, who launched a solo home run in the fourth inning. Sternig added another stolen base giving him five for the doubleheader.
