Eagles drop two against top team in NACC

MEQUON, Wis. - The Edgewood College Softball team dropped two NACC contests against Concordia Wisconsin on Friday afternoon. The Eagles fell 4-0 in game one, before an 11-3 setback in game two.

CONCORDIA WISCONSIN 4, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 0
- Edgewood College (8-24, 2-18 NACC) struggled to figure out the Concordia Wisconsin (22-9, 17-3 NACC) pitcher Gina Followell. In the shutout, the Eagles only managed two hits, while Followell struck out eight.

- Jenna Dunbar and Maddy Coppens recorded the two Eagle hits of the first game. Dunbar's double came in the top of the fourth inning, while a single up the middle came off the bat of Coppens in the fifth inning.

- The Falcons scored first, plating three in the second inning. Jenna Pozezinski laced a home run to center field to get things going, and two doubles plated two more Falcons. Concordia Wisconsin added one more as Molly O'Connell sent another home run to center field.

- Coppens went the distance for the Eagles. The sophomore picked up four strikeouts and only gave up five hits.

CONCORDIA WISCONSIN 11, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 3
- The Eagles bats came alive in the second game of the afternoon. In the nightcap, the Falcons got on the board first as a RBI ground out to second base plated a runner from third base. CUW added five more runs in the second frame off two singles and a double.

- Edgewood College got on the board in the fourth inning as a single to left center off the bat of Delleman scored Sabrina Maicke.

- In the fifth inning the Eagles added to the scoring when a ground out to second off the bat of Jenna Johnson scored pinch runner Jacklyn Mozdzen. Later in the inning, a ground out from Laurissa Belott scored Andi Salm, closing the gap with the Falcons to just four runs (7-3).

- The Falcons would score four more before the contest would end in the sixth inning. Three runs came in the fifth frame and one more in the sixth frame.

- Hits were spread out between six different Eagles on the day, as Belott and Delleman each added an RBI.

- Coppens, Emily Bloomfield, and Belott shared pitching duties for the Eagles, combining for four strikeouts. Nicki Becker earned the win for the Falcons, throwing 3.1 innings and striking out three.

- Senior day is up next for the Eagles. NACC doubleheader action against MSOE will begin at 6:00 p.m. at Robert D. Goodman Softball Field at Madison College in Madison, Wis.
