Raiders take two from Eagles on Senior Day

MADISON, Wis. - The Edgewood College Softball team dropped the final two NACC contests of the season Saturday evening against MSOE. Under the lights of Robert D. Goodman Softball Field, the Eagles fell 9-0 in the opener, before an 8-2 setback in game two.

MSOE 9, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 0
- Edgewood College (8-26, 2-20 NACC) could not contain the MSOE (30-10, 18-4 NACC) hitters, falling in five innings in the opener. The Raiders piled on the runs early in the first inning, taking advantage of two hard hit singles to score three in the opening frame.
- The Eagles offense was led by Jenna Dunbar, who recorded two hard hits through the Raiders infield in both the first and fourth inning. Hanna Fisher and Andi Salm both added hits, but the timing wasn't quite right, as the Eagles were unable to score.
- MSOE added six more runs in the fourth inning, taking advantage of two doubles and two singles to increase their lead to 9-0.
- Maddy Coppens managed 3.1 innings from the rubber for the Eagles, adding two strikeouts. Emily Wiederholt went the distance for the Raiders, striking out four and only allowing four hits.

MSOE 8, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 2
- In the nightcap, the Edgewood College bats came alive with eight hits. Dunbar and Grace Delleman both recorded multi-hit games with two each, while Delleman added two RBI.
- MSOE managed to score in five-of-seven frames, and scored first, plating two in the first inning.
- The Eagles responded back in the bottom of the first, as a single to right field off the bat of Delleman scored Dunbar from second base.
- The Raiders would add to their lead with three runs in the second inning, while the Eagles scored Fisher who reached on a double to left center in the third inning.
- From the rubber, Laurissa Belott, Emily Bloomfield, and Coppens all combined for three strikeouts for the Eagles. For the Raiders, Lorrin Pondo and Sarah Grossman combined for eight strikeouts.

- The 2019 Edgewood College Senior Class which was celebrated Sunday consists of: Sabrina Maicke, Sabrina Luedtke, and Delleman.
