VERONA, Wis. – The Edgewood College Baseball team faced a difficult test in its 2019 NACC and home opener. The Eagles (2-11, 0-2 NACC) welcomed in the top-ranked team in Division III Baseball, Concordia University Chicago, to Stampfl Field and dropped a pair of games against the Cougars. Concordia Chicago won the opener, 10-0, before completing the sweep with a 7-3 final in the nightcap.
NO. 1 CONCORDIA CHICAGO 7, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 3 (GAME TWO)
- The Eagles had their best offensive inning in the ninth inning of game two as they had the tying run at the plate before Concordia Chicago was able to get the final out.
- Edgewood College and CUC each finished with six hits in the second game with
Casey Willis and
Trey Hunt both tallying a pair of hits for the Eagles.

Max Orput, and Willis scored runs for Edgewood College in the nightcap.
- After three scoreless frames to open the game, the top-ranked Cougars scored five in the fourth to build a cushion. The Eagles got on the board for the first time with an RBI fielder's choice from
Adam Cairo, plating Willis. The Cougars would score once in the sixth and ninth before Edgewood College plated two in the bottom of the ninth for the 7-3 final.

Matthew Turner worked four innings for the Eagles in taking the loss, including three scoreless to open the game.
Kyle Semrad threw three solid relief innings, allowing just one run, while
Mason Maziarka and
Trey Hunt pitched as well with Hunt not allowing a run.
- Cole Carman pitched eight strong for the Cougars, giving up just one run while striking out four. Mike Tobin earned the save as he came on with the tying run on deck despite just needing one out to finish the game.
NO. 1 CONCORDIA CHICAGO 10, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 0 (GAME ONE)
- The Cougars (13-1, 2-0 NACC) showed why they are ranked where they are in the first inning, plating four runs in the opening frame. Justin Rodriguez had a two-RBI single in the frame. CUC would add two-run innings in the fourth, sixth, and seventh, winning the game via a 10-run rule after seven innings.
- The Eagles offense was held to just three hits in the opener with
Bryan Sternig, Kalafut, and Cairo collecting them. Cairo added a stolen base.

Will Mossa took the loss for Edgewood College, working four innings with four strikeouts. Concordia Chicago was limited to just seven hits, but the Eagles staff hit five batters and walked five more in the game one setback.
- Kyle Strepek picked up the win for the Cougars, allowing one hit over five scoreless five frames. Noah Dressler worked the final two innings and Bryan VanDuser led CUC at the plate with three hits, including a double and triple, while driving in three and scoring three times.
