TUCSON, Ariz - The Edgewood College Softball team ended their spring break trip in Tucson, Arizona with a 4-6 record after dropping their final two contests to Augsburg University and UW-Platteville. The Eagles hung with both the Auggies and Pioneers, with the exception of two big innings in which five runs came across the plate for both teams.
AUGSBURG UNIVERSITY 7, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 1
- The combination of Augsburg pitchers Sam Anderson and Bella Kallas kept the Edgewood College bats at bay on Wednesday morning, as the two combined for ten strikeouts.
- The Auggies got things going in the first inning, as a single and two doubles brought five runners across the plate. Augsburg added two more runs, one being a home run off the bat of pitcher Anderson in the sixth inning.
- The Eagles sole run came in the seventh inning when a sacrifice fly off the bat of Jenna Johnson scored Grace Delleman from third base.
- Eagles pitcher Laurissa Belott came into the game for four innings of work, coming away with four strikeouts.
UW-PLATTEVILLE 6, EDGEWOOD COLLEGE 1
- The second contest of the day was a largely defensive battle, as the contest remained scoreless through the first five innings. Both teams combined for 12 runners left on base.
- In the top of the second inning UW-Platteville threatened to score with bases loaded, but Maddy Coppens was able to force the ground out to end the inning. Â
- The Eagles bats woke up in second contest of the day, finally breaking through in the sixth inning as Delleman laced a triple to center field scoring Sabrina Maicke all the way from first base. Edgewood College finished the contest with seven hits, one triple and two doubles.
- In the fifth inning, UW-Platteville broke through scoring five runs. Shannon Gaul led the way for the Pionneers, with a three-run home run to center field.

- The Eagles return home to begin NACC action in the first home contest of the 2019 season. Edgewood College will take on Benedictine University in double header action on Saturday, March 30 at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.
