FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Edgewood College Baseball team brought the bats on Wednesday in an 11-9 win over St. Lawrence University. The Eagles, who totaled 16 hits in the win, took the lead for good on an RBI single by
Kyle Semrad in the bottom of the eighth inning, breaking a 9-9 tie.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- With the game tied at 9-9 heading into the bottom of the eight, Edgewood College rallied for two runs, the fourth time during the day they plated two or more runs in an inning.
Alex Prindle led off the frame with a walk and was sacrified over by
Ryan Fields. After a flyout, Semrad delivered the big two-out hit, plating Prindle for a 10-9 lead.
Casey Willis followed that with an RBI single of his own to give the Eagles some insurance.
- After a few first inning woes earlier in the trip, Edgewood College made sure it got off to a strong start on Wednesday. The Eagles plated four runs in the opening frame with Prindle,
Joseph Kalafut, and
Ryan Cassady all delivering RBI singles.
- St. Lawrence responded with three runs in the top of the second, but Edgewood College plated a run of its own in the bottom half on another run-scoring single by Kalafut, plating
Bryan Sternig for his second run of the game. The Eagles would add to their lead with two runs in the bottom of the fourth, Prindle driving in the first with an RBI single and Fields the second on a fielder's choice.
- The Saints cut into the Eagles lead with two runs in the top half of the fifth, but Edgewood College again posted a big inning with two in the bottom half.
Max Orput singled in Willis and
Adam Cairo doubled in Orput to make the score 9-5.

Will Mossa picked up the win with three brilliant innings in relief. Mossa allowed just two hits in three scoreless frames, striking out four and walking three.
Branden Cohn got the start and tossed five innings, while
Matthew Turner worked for three outs in the sixth.
- Seven different Eagles collected two-plus hits, led by Semrad who recorded three in the win. Sternig, Prindle, Kalafut, Willis, Orput, and Cairo all added two each.
