Eagles drop two despite hot hitting against Foresters

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Edgewood College Softball team dropped a pair of games on Tuesday afternoon to UW-La Crosse and Huntington University in Arizona. The combination of defensive miscues and hot hitting opponents proved costly for the Eagles, as they fell to 4-4 on the season.

UW-La Crosse 15, Edgewood College 2
- The Eagles first game of the day was decided in the bottom of the fourth inning when UW-La Crosse, up 5-2 entering the inning, collected 10 runs off nine hits. Freshman Kendra Leis proving instrumental at the plate with two doubles in the inning, scoring three runners.

- After an early run in the first inning from UW-La Crosse, Edgewood College got back in the lead during the top of the second inning after Hanna Fisher doubled to left center field, scoring Jenna Dunbar from first, and coming all the way home on the play after a throwing error from the catcher.

- Edgewood College ended the game with four hits; one a piece from Laurissa Belott, Jordan Anderson, Fisher, and Andi Salm.  

Huntington University 11, Edgewood College 5
- Despite lacing 11 hits off the Foresters pitcher West, the Eagles were unable to overcome Huntington University, who piled on runs throughout the contest.

- Maddy Coppens turned in a solid seven innings of work, adding three strikeouts for a total of six on the day.

- The Foresters scored in all but two frames and collected thirteen hits, three being doubles and one a triple.

- The Eagles proved to be strong at the plate as well, as Grace Delleman laced a triple and Jenna Johnson found some green for a double that sparked the Eagles bench in the second inning.

- Edgewood College will look to bounce back in their final day in Arizona. The Eagles will take on Augsburg University at 9:00 a.m. MST, followed by UW-Platteville at 11:00 a.m. MST.
