Eagles hold off Falcons, move to 9-0

MEQUON, Wis. -  In a gritty contest that saw 11 lead changes and five tie scores the Edgewood College Women's Basketball team earned their fourth NACC victory of the season over Concordia Wisconsin. The Eagles kept their undefeated season in tact with a 71-68 win over the Falcons. Alyssa Lemirande and Emma Klein led the Eagles offense, both finishing with 16 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (9-0, 4-0 NACC) got off to a quick eight point lead (10-2) halfway through the first period. Just when it looked like the Eagles offense would run away with the period the Falcons ended the period on a 13-7 run. Concordia Wisconsin (1-5, 1-3 NACC) pulled within two of Edgewood College (17-15) going into the second period.

- The Falcons gained the lead for the first time in the second period, taking advantage of their time at the charity stripe. Edgewood College regained the lead with 57 percent shooting from the floor (8-of-14) and headed into the break with a three-point lead (36-33).

- Fouls proved costly for the Eagles in the third period as the Falcons scored seven of their 17 points from the charity stripe and regained the lead. Edgewood College was outshot 17-13 by Concordia Wisconsin in the third period.

- With just 10 minutes left in regulation Concordia Wisconsin held a one-point lead (50-49). With 5:25 on the clock the Eagles regained the lead on a layup from Mia Edwards. It was a back-and-forth affair from then on, as Edgewood College managed to score just two more (12-10) than Concordia Wisconsin through the final minutes.

- Neither team shot particularly well, but in the end Edgewood College finished with a 45.3 shooting percentage from the floor. Overall Concordia Wisconsin struggled from the floor, connecting on 21-of-56 (37.5%), but did have more success than the Eagles from three-point range (42.9%).
