RIVER FOREST, Ill. - The Edgewood College Women's Basketball team showed both offensive and defensive dominance in a road victory over Dominican University on Tuesday night. The Eagles doubled the Stars scoring in an 82-41 conference win, handing Dominican their first NACC loss of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In another team victory, Edgewood College (8-0, 3-0 NACC) got on the board first after a flurry of steals by the Eagles in the first minute of the contest. From there the Eagles put up a solid 16 points in the first period, leading the Stars by four (16-12) going into the second period.
- The Eagles defense shut down the Stars in the second period, only allowing seven points to the Eagles 20. Alyssa Lemirande scored an impressive 12 points in the paint led the Eagles into the half with a 17-point lead (36-19) on an 18-2 run.
- Edgewood College once again showed defensive dominance in the fourth period, only allowing Dominican University (5-2, 2-1 NACC) to score eight points.
- On the night the Eagles held the Stars to just 28.3 percent shooting from the floor and 6.7 percent shooting from beyond the arc.
- The Eagles best shooting came in the fourth period, connecting on 11-of-17 from the floor (64.7%).
- The Stars defense couldn't stop the speed of Alyssa Lemirande, as she tied her career-best scoring performance with 21 points. The junior added seven rebounds and two steals in the victory. Emma Klein (10) scored in double digits for the fourth time this season and collected a career-best three steals.
- Lexi Walter led the Eagles in boards with nine, four of which were offensive rebounds. The sophomore also knocked down eight points for the Eagles.
- Abby Shane continued to be a force from long range, connecting on 2-of-3 from beyond the arc and collecting a total of nine points in the win.
- The Eagles bench came through with 28 points on the night, as 13 Eagles scored in the win.Â
THE OPPOSITION
- Timiya Ray led the Dominican University offense with 13 points. Ray also added four rebounds, three assists, and two blocks on the night.
- Nyema Burns put up a strong defensive effort with seven rebounds and five blocks.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- On the season the Eagles have beaten opponents by an massive average of 23 points.
- The Eagles 8-0 start to the season is one of the best in recent history for Edgewood College basketball. The 2011-12 Men's Basketball team is the most recent to own a better start, as they went 9-0 before their first loss of the season.
- Edgewood College, MSOE, and Benedictine are the only NACC schools left with a perfect conference record. The Eagles are the only team left in the NACC with a perfect season record.Â

- The Eagles will face-off against Concordia University Wisconsin on Saturday. The Eagles will tip-off in Mequon, Wis. at 4:15 p.m. The game will be the second of a men's/women's doubleheader with the men slated for a 2:00 p.m. start.
