Eagles shoot past Rams for thrilling non-conference win

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Edgewood College Women's Basketball team recorded its highest point total since the 1991-92 season. The Eagles shot extremely well, including 5-of-8 from the charity stripe. In addition, four players finished in double figures. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (2-0) went into the half leading 55-34 off a 32-10 second period fueled by 10 points from Alyssa Lemirande.

- The Eagles best shooting came from Emma Klein (22 points) and Abby Shane (18 points), with most coming from beyond the arc.

- The Eagles spread the ball well, finishing with a team total of 28 assists. Bria Lemirande led the Eagles with nine assists.

- For the second game in a row Bria Lemirande led the Eagles in boards. The newcomer managed seven of the Eagles 23 rebounds.

- In a spectacular offensive performance that passed the century mark for the first time since the 1991-92 season, the Eagles connected on 44 shots taken.

- Edgewood College shot 54 percent from the floor, 44 percent from beyond the arc, and 63 percent from the charity stripe.

- Abby Shane (18), Alyssa Lemirande (18), Bria Lemirande (10), and Emma Klein (22) finished in double figures for the Eagles. Shane was perfect from beyond the arc (4-of-4), as Klein finished 8-of-12 from the field.

- The Edgewood College bench dominated with 56 points compared to just 17 from North Central (0-1). In addition, the Eagles scored an impressive 38 points off turnovers, forcing 13 steals overall.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Edgewood College went over the century mark for the second time in program history, but just the first time since the turn of the century. The Eagles last scored over 100 points against MSOE on December 10, 1992.

THE OPPOSITION
- North Central University was led by Naomi Hagstrom who scored a team-best 18 points while Allison Bulthuis put up 15 points. Bailey Brewster, Bethany Shield, and Kadjia Conteh each recorded four assists for the Rams.

UP NEXT
- Edgewood College will participate in the Webster Tip-off Classic next week. The Eagles will face off against Illinois College at 6:00 p.m. in St. Louis, MO.
