Eagles remain undefeated in rout of Illinois College

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Edgewood College Women's Basketball team defeated Illinois College 72-43 on Friday night to remain undefeated on the season. The Eagles defense held the Lady Blue to just 24 percent shooting in a game that saw the majority of points scored from close range. Edgewood College owned the lead for 91 percent of the contest and scored most of their points in the paint.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (3-0) jumped out to a quick 21-12 lead after a first period that saw the Eagles leading by nine at multiple points.

- The Eagles best shooting effort came in the second period, outscoring Illinois College (1-2) 22-11. Seven different Eagles scored in the second period, as five points from both Alyssa Lemirande and Abby Shane helped the Eagles to a 20 point lead going into the break.

- The biggest lead of the night came with just under two minutes remaining in the fourth period, as a three pointer from Sydney Ignoffo gave the Eagles a huge 30 point lead (72-42)

- Alyssa Lemirande led all players offensively with 17 points. Parker Fetherston was perfect from the charity stripe (4-of-4) and knocked down three from beyond the arc, good for a career-best 13 points.

- Lexi Walter finished with 10 rebounds, three assists, and four steals. Bria Lemirande continued to be a strong presence for the Eagles, adding eight rebounds and an impressive career-best six steals.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Eagles 19 steals ties for fourth best in program history and goes down as the highest total steals in a game under Head Coach Chaia Huff.

- In just her third game in an Eagle uniform, Bria Lemirande has made her way into the record books. The junior's six steals ties for fourth best in program history.

THE OPPOSITION
- Lilly Pepper led the Illinois College offense with 10 points. Pepper also added eight rebounds on the night. Carly Cameron pulled down 12 boards for the Lady Blue.

- The Eagles will take on the winner of tonight's game between Webster University and University of the Ozarks tomorrow.
