ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Edgewood College Women's Basketball team put together their fourth win of the season, to improve to 4-0 overall for the second season in a row. The Eagles earned Tournament Champions with a convincing 69-50 win over Webster University on Saturday afternoon. With two wins at the Webster Tip-Off Classic, Lexi Walter and Alyssa Lemirande were named to the All-Tournament Team. In addition, Alyssa Lemirande was named tournament MVP.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Junior Alyssa Lemirande was dominant on Saturday afternoon, leading the Eagles with a 15 point and 11 rebound double-double, and adding a team-high seven assists as well.
- Four players for Edgewood College (4-0) scored in double figures. Walter put up 14 points, also leading the Eagles with seven boards and three blocks. Abby Shane found her groove once again, scoring 13 points and going 3-of-8 from beyond the arc. Bria Lemirande also made her mark, collecting 12 points and four assists on the afternoon.
- The Eagles best shooting came in the fourth period, connecting on 9-of-15 and scoring 21 definitive points and holding off the Webster University (1-1) offense, who scored a game high 20 points in a final comeback effort.
- Webster University led Edgewood College 10-9 after the first period, but a massive 20 point second period and solid shooting from beyond the arc gave the Eagles a nine point lead going into the break.
- The Eagles largest lead of the contest came with 2:28 left on the clock in the fourth period. A layup by Lexi Walter gave Edgewood College a 25 point lead (67-42).
- The Edgewood College defense played extremely well, holding Webster to just 31 percent shooting from the floor and 19 percent shooting from beyond the arc.
ALL-TOURNAMENT
- Alyssa Lemirande was named to the All-Tournament Team and Tournament MVP for her strong showing over the weekend. She totaled 32 points, 15 rebounds, and nine assists over the two matches.
- Lexi Walter was also named to the All-Tournament Team for the combined totals of 19 points, 17 rebounds, and four blocks this weekend.
THE OPPOSITION
- Jaysea Morgan led the offensive effort for Webster University with 12 points and adding seven rebounds. Kaylee Heggemann (12 points) and Addison Beussink (10 points) both finished in double-figures for the Gorloks. Morgan and Beussink were both named to the All-Tournament Team.

- The Eagles will return to action next Saturday at Lakeland College. The game will be the first NACC contest of the year for Edgewood College and is set to begin at 2:00 p.m. in Plymouth, Wis.
