MADISON, Wis. – The Edgewood College Men's Soccer team was unable to pick up their third NACC win of the season in a match that saw both sunny skies and downpours of rain. Despite strong offense in the first half, the Eagles fell 2-1 to Aurora University on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After an early Aurora University (6-4, 4-0 NACC) goal from Salvador Garcia in the 5th minute, Edgewood College (5-6-1, 2-2 NACC) responded quickly to tie things up. Victor Lombardino took advantage of confusion in front of the goal, sending the ball quickly from the right post to Sean Surtees, who knocked the ball in from the left post.
- The Spartans regained the lead just four minutes into the second half, as Christian Duarte converted a scramble in front of the goal.
- The Aurora lead would remain for the rest of the contest, as the Eagles only took one shot in the second half.
- The Eagles were outshot 20-8 in the contest. Lombardino and Jorge Castellanos each recorded two shots in the loss. Christian Duarte led the Spartans offense, with one goal and six shots.
- Goalkeeper Brendon Martin helped keep the Eagles in it till the very end, registering six saves.
UP NEXT
- The Eagles will head on the road Wednesday to take NACC opponent Concordia Wisconsin. Action is set to begin at 4:00 p.m. in Mequon.
