Eagles lock down Inferno in convincing NACC win

MADISON, Wis. - The Edgewood College Women's Basketball team snapped a three-game skid with a strong defensive effort in a 56-37 win over Alverno Tuesday night at the Todd Wehr Edgedome. The win pushes the Eagles back up to over .500 for the season at 7-6, while moving their league record to 4-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles held the Inferno to 22.4 percent (15-for-67) shooting in the game and 7.7 percent (2-for-26) shooting from 3-point range. Alverno was held to just 13 first half points as the Eagles jumped out to a 31-13 lead at the break.

- After building a 13-6 lead through one quarter, Abby Shane helped put the game out of reach by scoring 12-straight points to begin the second quarter. The 12-0 Shane run included a pair of 3-point make and lasted until the Inferno made a free throw with 5:57 left in the half. Shane finished the game with 12 points, tied for the team lead with Alyssa Lemirande.

- Edgewood College would continue to control the second quarter, which included a pair of field goals from Diamond Pikulyk, one coming with 4:48 left before half which resulted in a game-high 21-point lead for the Eagles.

- The Eagles wanted to push the tempo on Tuesday and it worked as they finished with a 14-1 advantage in fast break points. Edgewood College also dominated the paint, outscoring the Inferno 38-18 in the lane.

- Edgewood College finished the contest with a 47-38 advantage in the boards as Allison Gordon led the team with seven. Kelly Carpenter added six rebounds off the bench. Brooke Lonigro tallied a game-best six assists as the Eagles finished the game with 18 helpers.
