MEQUON, Wis. - The Edgewood College Men's Basketball team fell 81-78 to Concordia University Wisconsin in an overtime thriller that saw 13 lead changes and 10 tied scores. The Eagles free-throw shooting continued to impress, finishing 83.3 percent overall and 100 percent in overtime. The Eagles offensive charge was led by Jake Negus and Avery Lyons who both finished in double-digits.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- At the end of two periods the Eagles and Falcons were all tied up at 64 a-piece, and heading into overtime. The final 5 minutes were a back and forth battle for the lead. Ultimately a 3 pointer from Josh Hau and a Jake Jurss layup gave Concordia Wisconsin the win.
- The biggest lead of the first half belonged to the Eagles after Jacob Miller dropped a 3-pointer for a 28-22 lead with just under five minutes remaining in the half. Concordia Wisconsin narrowed the Edgewood College lead to just one, as the score sat at 30-29 going into halftime.
- With 8:30 remaining in the second half, Concordia Wisconsin held a 10-point lead (57-47) after a dunk from Brandon Keller. Freshman Avery Lyons led the Eagles charge, scoring eight points and giving the Eagles a two point lead (61-59) with 3:18 left on the clock.
- Although the Eagles managed to get off two more shots than the Falcons, 71.4 percent shooting in overtime proved to be the difference, as Concordia Wisconsin edged out their sixth conference win of the season.
- Jake Negus led the Eagles offense with 25 points on the night, adding three from outside the arc and making 6-of-8 free throws. Avery Lyons wasn't far behind, finishing the contest with a career-high 16 points and four rebounds off the bench.
- Emil Radisevic dominated the boards for the Eagles with 11 rebounds, tying his season-high set in the previous meeting with Falcons.
THE OPPOSITION
- Jordan Johnson led the Falcons with a 14 point and 10 rebound double-double. Josh Hau finished in double digit fashion with a team-high 19 points, adding six rebounds. Andrew Fratzke (18 points) and Brandon Keller (11 points) also finished the night in double digits.
UP NEXT
- The Eagles head to Milwaukee, Wis. on Saturday to take on MSOE. The fourth straight road contest for Edgewood College is set to begin at 4:15 p.m.
