Eagles sweep Cougars behind career night from Lemirande

MADISON, Wis. - In a fast-paced matchup that saw an abundance of high energy and aggressive defense, the Edgewood College Women's Basketball team completed the sweep of Concordia Chicago on Tuesday night. The Eagles did not let the snow dampen their mood, as they lit up the Edgedome with a 63-45 victory over the Cougars. Behind a career performance from Alyssa Lemirande, the Eagles earned their third straight NACC victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Edgewood College (11-7, 8-5 NACC) came out hot, thanks to Allison Gordon, Lexi Walter, and Alyssa Lemirande. Gordon got things going with a fastbreak layup, while Walter scored seven straight points, and Lemirande's classic fastbreak jumper gave the Eagles a quick 11-0 lead in the first five minutes of the first period.

- The Eagles ended the first period with a 23-8 lead over Concordia Chicago (6-12, 6-9) and extended the lead to 23 points (42-19) at halftime. In the first half, Edgewood College shot 47 percent from the floor and 80 percent from the charity stripe, while holding the Cougars to just 28 percent overall.

- The biggest lead of the night came with 2:32 in the third period, as Maryn Ferron connected from beyond the arc for the fourth time, giving the Eagles a 31 point lead (56-25).

- Lemirande led Edgewood College with a career-high 21 points and added another career high with nine rebounds. Two other Eagles finished in double figures, with Walter connecting on 6-of-10 for 13 points and Maryn Ferrron going 4-for-9 with the long ball for 12 points.

- Brooke Lonigro led the Eagles with a team-high seven assists, while Walter and Gordon both finished the night with seven rebounds of their own.

- Notably, freshman Parker Fetherston made her first points as an Eagle, dropping a three pointer with just under two minutes in the second period.

THE OPPOSITION

Four different Cougars finished the contest with two assists, as Sam Bloom, Deja Southall, Marie Baumgartner, and Thornton came away with eight of 11 total assists.
