Lisle, Ill. - In a fast paced contest, Benedictine University jumped out to a quick 12-4 lead in the first quarter, as the Edgewood College Women's Basketball team's two-game win streak ended in a 69-43 loss on Saturday afternoon. Despite holding Benedictine to just 11.1 percent three point shooting through the first half of the contest, shooting improved, as Benedictine finished the contest shooting 39.7 percent overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Benedictine University (13-2, 9-1 NACC) led 14-6 after the opening period but the second period is where the lead was extended to 32-18. Benedictine University began the second period on a 6-0 run, as Casey Williams and D'Asia Williams each scored three points.
- The second half of the contest was much of the same as Edgewood College would trail Benedictine for the rest of the game. Both teams improved shooting from deep in the second half of the contest, as Benedictine shot 31 percent and Edgewood College shot 50 percent.
- Overall both teams saw an abundance of turnovers and steals in the contest, as Benedictine finished with 17 turnovers and 12 steals compared to 22 turnovers and nine steals for Edgewood College. In the end, Benedictine was able to score 21 points off of turnovers as compared to 17 points scored by Edgewood College.
- Abby Shane led Edgewood College with a team-best 10 points and added three steals. Kelly Carpenter finished with seven boards, while Alyssa Lemirande added six of her own.
THE OPPOSITION
- Benedictine University was led by Allison Michalski who scored 20 points and added three rebounds. Alex Fanning put together a double-double with 15 points and 16 boards.

- Edgewood College will travel to Fond Du Lac, Wis. on Wednesday to take on Marian University. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
